Stuff like this has come up on my dash by different people a few times now, and I roll my eyes. I’m sorry you’re having difficulty as a transman. I don’t think your feelings are invalid or your life isn’t hard, and my heart does go out to you. But I’m not going to donate my money to you so you can help pay rent, get a packer, and start testosterone, so you can “be more comfortable with” who you are. If you want those things so badly, you need to work for them, just like the majority of people in your position who want those things, and working for them will be much more rewarding. Just like I work my ass off to pay my rent, pay for my school, and pay for my decent therapy that I’m in to help heal from years of sexual violence I endured at the hands of many men I was sold to when I was a young teen. You don’t see me going around asking for donations to my rent, school, therapy, and other things I need, even though it’s super fucking hard to live and get out of bed in the morning. You’ll never see me asking for donations to help ME out, because it isn’t anyone’s place to give me their money to help me pay for things I can work to get myself. I’d feel uncomfortable asking for donations because of this, and it’s just tacky to beg (yes, asking for donations for your own use is begging). If I donate my money, it is going to be to issues that people don’t have a way to WORK for themselves. If this person was asking me to donate to an organization that helps to create awareness about gender issues/LGBT community, I would consider that, just like I donate on occasion to sexual assault help organizations, because awareness and proper education about these issues is needed, and it won’t be given out unless people contribute to the organizations that do it. But begging for yourself is so tacky. (Anon please).
